The process
In letterpress, graphics are built using dots – the smaller the dots, the lighter the color; the larger and closer the dots are, the darker the color.A skilled operator will vary the pressure. Carefully balanced pressure is very important for the quality of the picture, as too much pressure creates a halo effect and too little pressure creates gaps in the graphic because of missing dots.
